Medical professionals have increasingly explored the connection between emotional health and physical healing. While forgiveness is not a cure for illness, many studies suggest that chronic anger, resentment, and stress can have negative effects on the body. It is logical, then, to recognize that unforgiveness can nurture bitterness, and bitterness can negatively impact the mind, body, soul, and spirit. You have nothing to lose by forgiving and so much to gain—even when the person who hurt you never asks for forgiveness.
For those who follow Christ, forgiveness is more than an act of willpower; it is an act of grace. Through Him, we receive the strength to forgive in ways that surpass our natural ability. Forgiveness does not guarantee that every struggle, illness, or hardship will disappear, though sometimes healing comes in unexpected ways. What it does offer is something precious: the peace of God. Unlike the peace the world gives, His peace cannot be taken away, even in life's most difficult seasons. With Love and Compassion Kamilia Watson
